Accredited public relations practitioner, freelance writer, strategist,
Donna Strout spent a successful career connecting people
to ideas. Now, nearly 20 years later, Donna is drumming to a different
beat.
While
director of public relations for Operation Blessing International, a non-profit humanitarian organization, Donna made the
choice to work from home after the birth of her first child in March 2000. In
2001, she resigned to launch her own freelance public relations agency. With
her emphasis on media relations and writing, Donna’s clients ranged from professional speakers to social service organizations. However, being a new “at-home” mother felt isolating so, in addition,
she began a parent-child group in Chesapeake, a branch of M.O.M.S. Club International, and became the group’s first
President. Utilizing Donna’s skill in promotion, the group grew from five
to 60 members in the first 8 months under her leadership.
By
the following year, Donna desired more freedom to include her family in her work. Inspired
by her two-year old’s love of music, Donna completed a Kindermusik training course and was awarded a license to teach
the Kindermusik curricula to young children. Without delay, she signed on with
Old Dominion University as Adjunct professor to teach its Kindermusik program.
In
2003, after the birth of her second child, Donna began her own Kindermusik program, Kindermusik with Donna & Friends. Emphasizing the importance of parent education, Donna seeks to connect parents to
the natural rhythm in their children and, in turn, help the children reach their optimal learning potential.
Donna resides in Chesapeake, Virginia, with
her husband, Brian, and their two daughters, Madisen and Alayna.
